80 Eddy Lang Signature, Purple Sparkle Kirinite & vintage white Galalith, 3.25mm

£20.79

Eddy Lang signature plectrum, reinterpreted from a photograph of a 1931 original and an entry in a 1936 Gibson catalogue. The photograph reveals that the white panel was simply stuck onto the body of the plectrum, leaving a pretty nasty ridge, which could function, I suppose, as a grip feature, but probably mostly just trapped dirt.

I decided to recess the contrasting panel into the body of the plectrum, making the whole thing a much smoother, sleeker affair. This way, the inset could be made out of a lot more decorative materials like a.o. white vintage Galalith over Kirinite and @dankblanks resin, Fordite over resin, and stabilised mammoth tusk over vintage amber tortoise Galalith…

They don’t come much classier than this, and they play really, really well. A typical vintage shape, but made relevant for today’s players, it is almost circular with one playing tip, and offers great contact area with your fingers, allowing for a strong tone. It’s size, reminiscent of a JazzIII XL, will also easily accommodate players used to the regular 351 size.

Kirinite

Kirinite™ is a versatile, innovative acrylic sheet material that is bringing new excitement to an ever-increasing variety of products. Kirinite comes in a wide array of alluring colours and patterns, but there’s a lot more to Kirinite than just dazzling colors. It is a great tone material for guitar picks and will help in getting bite and volume into your guitar tone.

Galalith

This material known as Galalith is an original era manufacture of a synthetic plastic material produced by the interaction of casein (a milk protein) and formaldehyde. Invented in 1893 and first commercially produced in 1900, its trade name is derived from the Greek words gala (milk) and lithos (stone). It is odourless, insoluble in water, biodegradable, non-allergenic, antistatic and virtually nonflammable. Talk about environmentally friendly and sustainable. It also is a joy to work with and polishes up to a lovely transparent deep sheen. What’s not to like? And, true to its heritage and composition, Galalith’s tone is slightly mellower and rounded than that produced by its more recent brethren Kirinite, Juma, and epoxy, but offers great clarity and definition.

Refund Policy

I realise that a plectrum is a very personal thing, and I designed most of my shapes to my liking, both in appearance and in performance. If, for whatever reason, you don't like your Meantone plectrum, you are welcome to send it back to me, in the same condition as it reached you. Upon receipt of the plectrum I will refund you.

But in all honesty, it's simply cheaper and easier to keep it in your collection, and who knows, you might change your mind. It happens.

Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy

You can cancel your Meantone order and be refunded, provided I have not sent the order out yet.
